There are many publications that a laboratory may find useful in their quest to "consistently produce only technically valid results," (first paragraph in the Introduction to ISO/IEC 17025). These pages contain links to organizations that provide guidance to laboratories in the implementation of their quality systems. Listed organisations include standards development organisations (SDOs) and accreditation bodies.
- See the list of ILAC-recognized accreditation bodies within Canada and the USA here.
- See the international standards development organisations (SDO) that develop consensus for specific technical discipines such as VIM, BIPM, IEC, ISO, ITU (to name a few) here.
- See the North American SDOs (also internationally active) here.
- See the international conformity assessment bodies that formally recognise the equivalence of laboratory accreditations such as ILAC and its regional bodies (APLAC, IAAC, EA, and SADCA) here.
In order to provide useful tools to laboratories, MOTIVA publishes aids and guidance documents. They are aimed specifically at allowing a laboratory to better understand the requirements behind ISO/IEC 17025 and more easily implement them. They can be found here.
MOTIVA also provides sample forms for use within laboratories in order to better facilitate implementation of a conformant quality system. They can be found here.
